BURN BANS GRADUALLY BEING LIFTED
With the rain we've been getting recently, open burn bans are gradually being lifted throughout Middle Tennessee. Tuesday morning the City of Murfreesboro lifted its ban that had been in effect since late June. About a dozen people got tickets, including James Hodge, who’ll pay 50 dollars plus more than 300 in court costs.

NEEDLES IN DELTA SANDWICHES
Delta Air Lines and federal authorities are investigating after sewing needles were found in sandwiches on four Delta Flights from Amsterdam: two to Atlanta, one to Minneapolis and one to Seattle.

100 SOLDIERS TO RETURN TO NASHVILLE AFTER YEAR LONG DEPLOYMENT
One hundred Nashville-based soldiers come home tomorrow after being deployed for a year. Members of the Tennessee National Guard's 230th Signal Company have been stationed in Afghanistan since last July.

67 MORE NEGLECTED ANIMALS RESCUED. GROUP NEEDS HELP FROM PUBLIC
The Animal Rescue Corps-- a non-profit that travels from state to state, helping get rescued animals healthy and adoptable -- now has close to 200 animals it's taking care of at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville. 100 dogs were rescued from a hoarding situation in Lebanon, and just this week, more than 60 other animals rescued from extreme neglect in Sparta.

That number you'll see today on the TDOT signs over the interstate today… is a new record. Even before the weekend more than 500 people had died on Tennessee roads this year. This time last year we were below 480.

AFTER FIREWORKS, CALLERS FLOOD ANIMAL SHELTERS IN SEARCH OF MISSING PETS
If you know someone who lost a pet in the past few days, Judy Ladebauche, the Metro Animal Control director, says your dog or cat may have run away because of the fireworks. The 5TH of July is one of Animal Control's busiest days for people turning in lost pets. And before you post on Craigslist, remember there are scam artists out there, reading descriptions of dogs, then targeting the owners, asking for gas or reward money up front.
