NEW YEAR'S EVE PROBLEMS WITH TAXIS IN NASHVILLE
If you had problems with taxis on New Years Eve, the Metro Transportation Licensing Commission wants to hear from you. Several people reported that they had to wait hours for a taxi, couldn't find one, or that available taxis either didn't stop for them, or charged them a flat rate fee, which is illegal to do. They're supposed to charge you according to the meter.

FISCAL CLIFF DRAMA OVER
The drama over the fiscal cliff is over. The Republican-led House approved a Senate bill last night.  Under terms of the agreement, Bush-era tax cuts for individuals making less than 400-thousand dollars a year and couples making 450-thousand will be extended, while the wealthiest Americans will see their taxes go up.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS NEW ENGLAND GETTING SNOW TODAY
The National Weather Service says northern New England will get a up to a foot-and-a-half of snow today. This is part of that same powerful snowstorm that's been dumping on states in the nation's midsection. Airlines have already cancelled about 200 flights.

It's one of the busiest travel days of the year, and weather conditions will make post-Christmas travel a mess in some regions today, including Nashville. Flights headed out to any of the storm hit areas may be delayed or cancelled, so if you're flying out of Nashville today, you'll want to check your flight ahead of time and make sure it's still on time.

BLIZZARD HITTING THE MIDWEST EXPECTED TO WEAKEN SOME
A blizzard that has hammered the Midwest is expected to weaken today (Friday). 
But the road closures, school cancellations, power outages and travel delays spawned by the storm continue to cause widespread havoc and inconvenience.  
Many people planning Christmas trips have been stuck at Chicago's two airports -- O'Hare and Midway -- because of flight cancellations.

MEMORIAL SERVICE IN CONNECTICUT

President Barack Obama offered words of hope when he spoke at an interfaith memorial service and prayer vigil last night in Newtown, CT for the 26 people who were killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.  Towards the end of his speech, Obama read the names of the children who died and said "God has called them all home." The president was one of numerous speakers which included religious leaders of numerous faiths.
