10 of Hollywood’s Worst Celebrity Tippers!
10. Britney Spears
The princess of pop has an estimated net worth of $200 million and a known history of lousy and rude tipping. Britney Spears was said to have tipped a valet attendant, by throwing change at his feet and saying, “There’s your tip.” Another report indicates, Spears once left a $26 tip on a $500 bill, which equates to .05%. While in Las Vegas at a restaurant, the singer wanted Starbucks coffee. She apparently asked the waiter to run across the street and get her some coffee. Britney didn’t tip him, nor did she reimburse him for her coffee. Now, that’s just toxic!
With a net worth of $140 million, one would think the famous R&B singer could tip something other than an autographed picture. There have been several reports of Usher leaving an autographed photo of himself in lieu of cash. Great, because signed Usher photos go for approximately $2.75 on Ebay. The thirty-five year old is also known for trying to get other people to pick up the tab. Perhaps, the singer’s stinginess should have been one of his “confessions.”
8. Bill Cosby
With an estimated net worth of $350 million, Bill Cosby has more than enough money to tip the standard 20%, but he doesn’t even come close. The seventy-six year old reportedly left a $3 tip on a $350 bill – which equates to .008%. Bill Cosby once said, “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure it trying to please everybody.” It looks like Cosby is practicing what he preaches, because he makes no attempt to please people in the service industry.
Madonna has a net worth of an estimated $650 million and is notorious for being stingy when it comes to gratuity. The ‘Material Girl’ is known for bailing on the tipping portion of the bill and when she does tip, she doesn’t tip well. Madonna once left an $18 tip on a $400 bill in a West London restaurant, which equates to .04%. Reportedly, the queen of pop is also rude to waiters. Another report says Madonna dined with a pal at Babbo in New York and neither of the ladies left a tip. For being a material girl, Madonna really likes keeping her materials to herself.
6. Tiger Woods
With a net worth of $500 million, one would think Tiger Woods would have plenty of money to tip and to tip well. While vacationing with a woman in Las Vegas, Woods did not tip any staff, forcing the mystery woman to make up for his lack of tipping. Woods excuse is that he doesn’t carry cash. In another instance, while Tiger was playing $10,000-a hand blackjack, Woods revoked a $5 tip, after realizing he had tipped the waitress earlier. Looks like Tiger Woods doesn’t think his cash should be shared.
5. Katherine Heigl
Katherine Heigl has a net worth of $25 million and makes this list for two things, her lousy tipping and her high maintenance attitude. Reportedly, the former Grey’s Anatomy star complains about everything when dining out, sends food back to the kitchen multiple times and is extremely demanding. This comes as no surprise, considering the actress’s reputation of being extremely difficult to work with.
3. Sean Penn
Sean Penn has a net worth of $150 million and is notorious for lousy tipping or not even tipping at all. Reportedly, while dining in New Orleans, Penn and three friends racked up a $450 bill and left no tip. This may not be surprising to some people, considering Sean Penn was previously married to Madonna, who is also reportedly infamous for her terrible tipping habits.
3. Kirsten Dunst
2. Rachael Ray
Rachael Ray regularly tips less than 10% and has even promoted the idea that 7% was a good enough tip on her television show – that millions of people watch. Considering Rachel Ray is a chef who has worked in the service industry, it’s shocking that she would vouch for 7% being an adequate tip. Well, that explains how Rachel Ray was able to do her one-day trips for only $40 a Day, because she doesn’t tip. That’s not very Yummo, Rachel!
1. Jeremy Piven
One of the worst tipping stories comes from none other than Jeremy Piven. The forty-eight year old actor has a net worth of $15 million. In 2007, The Entourage star along with twelve other friends showed up at the restaurant Nobu Matsuisha in Aspen, without reservations. The place was extremely crowded, but a table was still provided for the Hollywood star and his ‘entourage’. At the end of the evening, as Piven was leaving, he commented to the manager, “Thanks for nothing.” Jeremy also allegedly left Season one of Entourage as a tip for the waiter. The DVD set sells for as low at $7 on the internet. Since the incident, the actor has been banned from all Nobu Matsuisha locations.
