"Shark Week"! How about Shark Fin Cupcakes!?!
Of course, it's “Shark Week” and I came across something I’m passing onto my wife to make for us. It’s “Shark Fin Cupcakes” and they look awesome! Made with Oreos as the shark fin and frosting dyed blue for the ocean, I imagine they’ll really liven up an already lively crowd! Got the recipe for you to try!
1. Using blue food coloring, dye your frosting to the shade you desire (it took me about 8 drops of coloring to get mine dark enough for my taste). Mix well until it's completely incorporated and a smooth color (an electric mixer makes this much easier).
2. Frost your cupcakes and place in the fridge so the frosting can set while you prepare the cookie fins.
3. Carefully separate the Oreo® cookie and scrape out the white filling (eat it or discard it). With a serrated knife, gently cut one of the cookies in half, using a sawing motion to keep it from cracking. Cut off the bottom third of the cookie to make a flat base. (If desired, use your knife to scrape away at the cut edge to give it more of a curve. Place one fin in the top of each cupcake and serve.
