500 MILLION PROPOSED TO TRAIN AND ARM SYRIAN FIGHTERS
A 500 million dollar measure to train and arm up to five-thousand Syrian rebels has passed the House and is now headed to the Senate. The measure is supposed to arm the rebels so they can fight the growing ISIS threat.

LOCAL PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATED FOR SEXUAL HARASSMENT 
Justin Grimes, the principal of Springfield High School has been suspended without pay, and Robertson County school officials say he's being investigated for sexual harassment, but... that the police are not involved.  Grimes has been the principal of Springfield High since 2011.

DEMOLITION APP FILED FOR RCA STUDIO A 
The application is in the pipeline for the demolition of historic RCA Studio A. It's set to be demolished, down to the foundation. Everybody has to be out by December 1st. The application is under review by the Metro Historic Zoning Commission.

STUDY SHOWS BALDNESS COULD BE LINKED TO PROSTATE CANCER
There's some health stuff in the news today. One story, is a study that finds there could be a link between baldness and the risk of prostate cancer. (I know. Double not-fair.)

MEDITATION TO SHORTEN MIGRAINES
And if you know someone who has migraines, tell them about the new study that says meditation can shorten migraines a LOT. By as much as three hours.

FEDEX WANTS TO BUILD IN MT. JULIET
Good news on the job front: FedEx is planning a distribution center for Mt. Juliet, along I40 near Beckwith Road. The Planning Commission is up for a final approval vote today.

GEORGE HAMILTON IV PASSES AWAY
Longtime Opry star George Hamilton the Fourth has passed away. He died last night at St. Thomas Midtown hospital, after having a heart attack last weekend. He was known as the "International Ambassador Of Country Music" because he reportedly was the first American country singer to perform in the Soviet Union and Prague. Hamilton the Fourth was 77.

CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES
The wildfires are just horrible in California. The whole state's just like tinder, and there are 11 major fires burning right now. Hundreds of homes have already burned to the ground, and thousands more are in the path of fire.

EBOLA BLOOD BEING SOLD ON BLACK MARKET
The World Health Organization says blood from Ebola survivors is being sold on the black market in West Africa. People who are desperate to find something to keep their families safe from the outbreak that's killed more than two thousand people so far. 

KIDNEY DONORS HAVE BRAINS 'BUILT FOR COMPASSION'
People who donate kidneys to total strangers aren't just big-hearted, they're also big-brained. Researchers say kidney donors actually have larger brains, and are better than the rest of us at reading signs of distress in facial expressions. That may be what helps them decide to donate something so important, and so personal, to a stranger.

French actor Gerard Depardieu has STUNNED reporters by claiming he drinks 14 bottles of wine a day. He was doing press for his new movie, Welcome to New York," when he said ... I just drink, "... and if I get tired, I take a 10 minute nap, have a slurp of rose' and I'm fresh as a daisy."

 Magician Mat Franco is one-million-dollars richer.  He took home the grand prize on Wednesday's season finale of NBC's "America's Got Talent."

"Big Brother" is down to its top three finalists.  On Wednesday night's live eviction, Caleb was sent home after a massive blindside from allies Derrick and Cody.  The man who nicknamed himself the "beast-mode cowboy" told Julie Chen he was disappointed, but understands the nature of the game. 

MILLENNIALS PREFER SPENDING ON EXPERIENCES, NOT THINGS 
Millennials, people 15 to 25, are saying, "YOLO! I'm spending my money while I'm young!" And, while older people tend to spend on things, Millennials tend to spend their cash on experiences: concerts, group outings, runs, even trips to the movies. Milennials go to about a movie a week, the most of any age group.

TEN PERCENT OF AMERICANS HAVE GONE TO WORK HIGH
Oh, man! This may explain a lot. A new poll finds that 10 percent of workers have shown up at their place of work under the influence of marijuana.

Your friends with iPhones may be distracted today, not paying attention to their jobs, walking out into traffic, just keep an eye on them. Apple released its  latest operating system yesterday, iOS8.

SCOTLAND VOTE
Today's the day Scotland votes as whether to stay with the U.K. or break away and form their own country.
There are already people predicting the outcome: One guy says he got a sign in his piece of fried chicken that looked lilke a map of great Britain, but without Scotland.

Today is National Cheeseburger Day.  I'm not telling you how to live your life, but I think you should have one!

LEWIS COUNTY TEACHER IN TROUBLE
No matter how unruly the kids are in kindergarten class, you may NOT tie them to chairs. A Lewis County teacher has been disciplined for tying a 5 year old to a chair with a piece of twine earlier this month. The school says that is NOT how they do it.

WORLD LEADERS MEET TO DISCUSS ISIS
Leaders and diplomats representing more than two-dozen countries are meeting in Paris today, to discuss President Obama's pledge to defeat and destroy the militant Islamist group known as ISIS.  Everybody's deciding what roles their nations will play in carrying out the strategy against the militants who control broad stretches of Iraq and Syria, and who have now executed a third civilian.

BRENTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL POSTPONING ACT
If the threat found written on the bathroom wall at Brentwood High School was an effort to get out of taking the ACT test, nice try, but, "No." The school is postponing the ACT exam that was supposed to be given tomorrow (Saturday). The message found last Friday said several students and teachers would be killed on September 13th.

ANOTHER WOODLAND HILLS ESCAPEE ARRESTED
There are now TWO kids left on the loose from that breakout at the Woodland Hills Youth Detention Center... Another 17-year-old was caught yesterday at Grove Apartments in Murfreesboro. The teenager had been on the run since last Monday when more than 30 inmates broke out of the facility. 

THREAT WRITTEN ON BATHROOM WALL AT BRENTWOOD HS
Either there's something serious going on at Brentwood High school, or some teenager is feeling pretty intimidated by the ACT exam.
