THIEVES BREAK INTO LA HA ON BELL ROAD
If you've nearly been at the point of breaking into a Mexican food place because they're not open yet and you want a Margarita, you may be a little torn over this story.
Thieves broke into the La Hacienda on Bell Road in the Donelson area by going in through the ceiling. But, they had darker plans than happy hour. They cleaned out the safe at La Ha, then tore through a wall to get into the business next door, New Star Nail Salon. The crooks finally were stopped in their little spree when they hit a business where the owners were still inside, and called 9-1-1.
The funny part is the woman business owner said her husband had his hadngun with him, but that he was like Barney Fife and he couldn't find his one bullet.

STORMS HERE, NO INJURIES. DEATHS IN OTHER STATES
Heads up: you may have some cleaning up to do, and you may find some debris in the road on your drive in after a lot of us got storms, rain and wind last night. No injuries reported, though.
People were not as lucky in other parts of our country: four people were killed in a tornado in New York, and in Maryland one child was killed and eight others injured when a storm knocked down trees at a summer camp.

FAA INVESTIGATES DRONES FLYING INTO NASHVILLE FIREWORKS
Did you see that video of a drone aircraft flying into the Nashville fireworks? Tens of thousands of people did. But, I guess we'd better think nice thoughts for that guy, because he's now on the Federal Aviation Commission's radar, so -to-speak.
The F-A-A says they're investigating several drone incidents from the Fourth weekend to be sure no federal regulations were violated.

TIMBERLAKE DATE TO REMEMBER...
Justin Timberlake MAY be doing a little "happy dance" today, thinking about a near-miss in his life. It was on this date, back in 2000, that Justin proposed to Britney Spears. She accepted, but, it never happened.

TRINITY ROAD MOTEL DEEMED PUBLIC NUISANCE AND SHUT DOWN
We've only had a few motels shut down by police in the entire history of Nashville. But the Hallmark Inn on Trinity Lane has become one of those. It's been padlocked for being a public nuisance, after police say they responded to 16-hundred calls at the motel for violence, drugs, crime. That means, on average, more than one police visit at the Hallmark Inn every day in the past four years.

MAN COVERS HIMSELF IN TATTOOS AFTER REMOVING ORIGINAL INK
A guy in London has some serious commitment issues. First, he got tattoos all over. Then, he changed his mind. He spent 26 thousand dollars getting the tattoos removed and skin grafts to cover them. Then, he changed his mind, again. Now he's covered up most of his body and face with tattoos. He says he just wants to show people it's okay to be different.

SNAKES IN THE TOILET
Yaaaay Grrrl power! Picture this: two big, strong, burly construction workers, two male police officers, at a construction job OFFICE, all huddled together, cowering in the corner of the bathroom, as a woman police officer pulls a snake out of the toilet!
The construction workers found it, and after a brief session of, "Oh No I'm not. YOU move it, " they called police. Officer Alice grabbed her police baton, lifted up the snake, grabbed it by the head and took it outside and let it go. (In my mind the Wonder Woman music was playing the entire time.)

NEW, COMBINED, BUILDING PERMIT OFFICE OPENS
I know. This may be hard to believe, but, Metro Nashville government has not always been the most efficient. They had ELEVEN separate offices for the 11 different city permits that builders and other businesspeople might need. Lots of red tape and paying workers at all those sites. They've now been consolidated into one location, at the Metro Office building.  Well-played Metro. Well-played.

CDC SAYS MAKE OTHER PLANS TO STAY AWAKE IF DROWSY-DRIVING
Here's another of those stories that are not surprising, but I guess we needed a reminder: since Drowsy driving is on the rise ... and the injuries and deaths that come with it..... the CDC has come out with a report that says just turning up the radio, opening the window or turning on the AC... is not enough to keep you awake. Don't even expect it to.

MILEY CYRUS SPECIAL
Did you know there was a Miley Cyrus special on TV this past weekend? No? Apparently someone failed to do pre-promotion or figured it wouldn't help. Only 2 million people watched as Miley sang or twerked or groped or whatever she did. More people watched Last comic Standing, which is doing well, but not really a blockbuster.

PILOT BUYS PIZZA FOR ENTIRE PLANE
A quick-thinking pilot calmed some passengers stranded on the plane on the tarmac as the weather cleared ... by buying pizza for everybody.
The pizza guy who answered the phone call for the order must have either thought he'd hit the jackpot ... OR... that it was a huge practical joke! "Uh.. you want HOW many pizzas sir? 38? Ummmm I'm gonna need a callback number please. "

UNDER THE DOME NOT DOING WELL
The CBS Show, Under the Dome, is sinking like a rock. On it's second night this summer, more people watched masterchef,  "The Bachelorette" and NBC's "American Ninja Warrior," than under the dome...
