PARENTS GET SEXUALIZED COSTUMES REMOVED FROM STORE
Sometimes, all you gotta do is ask. Some parents say they're getting results when they ask stores to come up with alternatives to sexy and sexist Halloween costumes for little girls. For example, a police officer costume for your 5 year old boy: a little blue uniform, shirt, pants, badge and hat. A police officer uniform for your 5 year-old girl: a shiny, mini dress, and knee high go go boots. One mom said that was ridiculous, and asked her store to stop carrying costumes that implied that little girls couldn't be taken seriously at those jobs. Guess what! Her store did! YAY, parents!
So remember that when you see the same thing at your store: never hurts to ask.
