RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS IN NASHVILLE
This is what I'm talkin' 'bout! People going around the Nashville area, doing random acts of kindness. Hayley Shelton is taking her 1 year old daughter, Alice, along, and has been doing things like paying off layaways at Kmart, giving gift cards at Publix and Chick Fil A in west Nashville, and handing out huge tips to servers at local restaurants. With the tips and gift cards, a little note ith baby Alice’s picture on it. The card reads “You have been chosen for a random act of kindness by Baby Alice! Remember to pay it forward.” They've random acted about 1000 dollars worth so far. They hope you hearing about it encourages you to do something nice as well.

WEIRD WEATHER AT CHRISTMAS
http://wkrn.com/2014/12/01/stormtracker-forecast
Can you BELIEVE this weather!? We're gonna get up to near 60 today...with rain, and then down into the 30s with possible snow flurries by tomorrow night! InSANE!

TOW TO GO
Before you drink, designate a double D! And if you can't come up with a designated driver... remember that Triple A's Tow to Go will be running through New Year's Day. They'll drive you home, and tow your car behind, free, within a ten mile range. This is their busiest tow to go week of the year, starting tomorrow.  (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246

FLU SEASON COULD BE A ROUGH ONE
This is the time of year you have GOT to be vigilant about washing your hands, with soap, and remembering the basics: elbow bump instead of handshake, don't touch your face, sneeze into your elbow or, if all else fails, and it's a surprise sneeze, infectious disease specialist Dr Bill Schaffner says ... you can sneeze down your shirt. It looks funny, but it works!
With kids out of school for Christmas, whatever illness they bring home spreads through families, and then beyond as we get together and get into crowds. The Metro Nashville health department says it's already seen an increase in flu cases this year, and that this flu season could be a serious one.

MANTRAS TO GET YOU THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS
Is your family happy and supportive? Are your holiday family gatherings warm, loving and festive? Most of them are not. They're complicated. So www.psychcentral.com has offered some mantras as coping tools. Something you repeat to yourself to get through. One is, "Just smile and get through it, just smile and get through it."
And when you catch yourself getting pulled into family drama, there's, "I didn't cause this problem and I can't fix it." Or, my version of that is, "Not my burden." Mantras can make a difference between having a peaceful Christmas, and not speaking to family members for another year.
You can see the story at the link, above.

SLEEP DEPRIVATION PROBLEM NOW
And if things seem super stressful right now, remember, most of it, will seem more manageable with just a little more sleep. Sleep deprivation is rampant this time of year, and it makes everything you do seem harder. A huge tip that helped me: set your alarm for BEDTIME, not just for wakeup time. That way you don't just look up, and it's past midnight. Our friend Melinda Doolittle's post may speak for all of us right about now. She wrote,  "Sometimes I sit and stare and then it's 45 minutes later. I mean, how does that happen? Was I asleep? Is it bad that I have no idea?"

JOE COCKER DIES AT 70, LOSES BATTLE WITH LUNG CANCER
Joe Cocker has passed away. The British-born musician was known for his cover of The Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends" and a duet with Jennifer Warnes for the movie An Officer and a Gentleman called "Up Where We Belong," for which he won a Grammy, as well as the song, "You Are So Beautiful" He lost his battle with lung cancer. Joe Cocker was 70.

JOE COCKER LOCAL TIES
A lot of local people knew him... and had worked with him, including Producer Fred Mollin, who recorded Joe for a duet album in 2012. He says it was such a moving experience that they were CRYING as Joe sang. We've got the link to the youtube video up on our mix news page. Thank you, Fred, for sharing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9-1EUavHuo

FBI WARNING OF THREAT IN TN.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into a possible ISIS threat to a Memphis bridge. Memphis Police have been warned about the alleged plot to target the I-55 bridge into Arkansas, and have extra officers on the lookout.

REMEMBER THOSE WITHOUT FAMILY MEMBERS
And while it's so easy to get stressed and frustrated this time of year, a woman called us this morning and gave me a big ole dose of reality check when she wanted to hear,  "I'll Be Home for Christmas" because her son is in the Air Force and won't be here.
