BATMAN MOVIE SHOOTINGS
At least 13 people are dead and 50 wounded after a heavily-armed, masked gunman opened fire at a midnight screening of the new Batman movie in Aurora, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. Witnesses say the shooter first threw out a smoke-producing cannister and then began began firing into the audience. Many report they, at first, thought the smoke and gunshots were part of the screening. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old James Holmes, has no police record and has offered no reason for the shootings. ATF agents are searching his apartment for possible explosives and that building has been evacuated.
NES POWER OUTAGES
We know you heard the thunder last night. Well, we have troubles caused by the severe thunderstorms that rumbeled through. Lightning struck the steeple of the Trinity Church of Nazarene in Antioch causing damage. Others are still in the dark this morning with Nashville Electric Service dealing a few thousand homes without electricity.
There's also been flooding, with a driver rescued from floodwaters overnight at Orr Avenue and Elm Hill Pike here in Nashville. And another later rescued from his truck on Tulip Grove Road in Hermitage after a nearby creek overflowed its banks. I-40 near the Second & Fourth Avenue exits was briefly closed due to the water.

SOFIA VERGARA IS TV'S TOP-EARNING FEMALE STAR
It's good to be Sofia Vergara these days. She just picked up an Emmy nomination yesterday as "Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series" for her role on the show "Modern Family." And she's at the top of Forbes' magazine's top-earning female stars list. Vergara dragged down $19 million last year from the TV series, bunches of endorsements, and some other business ventures.
RED CROSS HAS EMERGENCY NEED FOR BLOOD DONATIONS
The Red Cross says blood donations are at the lowest they have been in 15 years. They have half the usual supply of readily avaible blood on hand, about half of what they had in June of last year. The Emmy Award nominations were announced yesterday and HBO picks up the most with 81, "Mad Men" and "American Horror Story" get 17 each. In comedy, "Modern Family" dominated, It picked up four of the six nomintions in the supporting actor catagory. One of them is Ed O'Neill, who will always be Al Bundy to many of us. Whooah, Bundy!
