TODAY IS PRESIDENTS' DAY
Today is Presidents' Day! It's one of those holidays where only some offices are closed, including Federal offices, banks and post offices.
Some state and city offices are open, however, so if you have official bidness to take care of today, you may want to call ahead and make sure the office is open. Presidents Day not only honors the birthday and life of President George Washington, but also commemorates all past American presidents.
SHOULD WE STAY IN DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME?
When we spring forward into daylight-saving time next month, the SECOND SUNDAY in March.... if a Tennessee lawmaker has his way, we'll never fall back into standard time again. Representative Curry Todd is proposing that Tennessee drop out of changing clocks twice a year, and just STAY in Daylight Saving Time.
Todd said federal law allows states to make such moves as long as the state covers two time zones, as Tennessee does. Arizona, Hawaii and Indiana have already done it. The bill is scheduled for a vote this week in the full House State Government Committee, which Haynes chairs. The Senate companion bill, sponsored by Republican Sen. Janice Bowling of Tullahoma, has not yet been scheduled for a vote.
(second Sunday in March, then the first Sunday in November.)

A former Walmart employee was arrested on Valentine's Day after she was caught replacing real money from store deposits with counterfeit bills, and keeping the real cash. Before she got caught, she had managed to take close to three grand from two Walmart Stores, including the one on Powell Avenue.

When you hear the term Craigslist killer, you may imagine some guy. This time, the Craigslist Killer is a woman. And apparently not just one murder. Police arrested NINETEEN YEAR OLD Pennsylvania woman Miranda Barbour, and she admitted she and her new husband just wanted to kill someone, so they did. She does say, she only killed bad people. The FBI is investigating.

Google is buying a technology that lets websites verify a user's identity using sound waves. SlickLogin can be used by companies as a password replacement or an additional layer of security to protect against data theft. SlickLogin works by playing a nearly silent sound that's picked up by an app on the user's smartphone and analyzed before sending a signal back to confirm the person's identity.
