GAS PRICES GOING DOWN. YAY!
At least gas prices have stopped going up. For now. Gas prices dropped a few cents for the first time in about three months of going up, up, up. The national average is just under three-69 a gallon.

LOCAL: METRO ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL ISSUES URGENT PLEA FOR ADOPTION
Metro Animal Care and Control is issuing a plea to the public to come out and adopt a pet
Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC) is issuing a plea to the public to come out and adopt a so-called Extended Stay dog, one who's been there long enough they're out of time. Metro Animal Care and Control is at capacity and needs homes for these lovable doggies by TOMORROW (Tuesday). They'll let you adopt them for 45 bucks, that's half the normal adoption rate... You can see the dogs who need a last-minute reprieve on their facebook page. Just look for Metro Animal Care

KRAFT FOODS ISSUES COTTAGE CHEESE RECALL
There's a recall of Kraft cottage cheese products sold under the name brands Simply Kraft, Knudsen, Daily Chef, and Breakstone's. The company says some of the ingredients weren't stored properly which could lead to early spoilage. You're supposed to take the cottage cheese back to where you bought it for a refund or exchange.

SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MISSING BOATER IN ROBERTSON COUNTY
Every summer, as soon as people start getting near the water, we hear sad stories like this. Another local man has apparently drowned. This time a boater in Robertson County. Officials say Keith Gourley and his fianc√© were canoeing on Saturday when their canoe flipped and Gourley never resurfaced. 

NASHVILLE GROUP TO RALLY FOR MINIMUM WAGE
Some supporters of raising minimum wage are planning a rally today at the Nashville office of Senator Lamar Alexander. Local lawmakers recently failed to move forward on a bill that would have raised the federal minimum wage from seven-25-an-hour to 10.10 an hour.

DOLLY PARTON SELLING HER HOLLYWOOD HOME
Dolly Parton is selling her home in Hollywood. For a mere 1.4 million. The 11-hundred square foot home was the childhood home of late movie star Natalie Wood.

CANCER-SNIFFING DOGS DIAGNOSIS 90% ACCURATE
How about a big ole lab sniffing you all over, as part of your next physical? We knew that some dogs can SMELL and detect cancer? But the medical profession hasn't really 'embraced' that low-tech method of detection, yet. But now researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have done the largest study, yet, on cancer sniffing dogs, and say the animals are more than 90-percent accurate in diagnosing the disease... including OVARIAN CANCER that's usually very hard to find, until it's too late. They were 98 percent accurate in some cases. (Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania presented the study at a big medical convention this weekend.)  

TIMBERLAKE WINS BIG AT BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS, MICHAEL JACKSON PERFORMS VIA HOLOGRAM
Justin Timberlake RULED the Billboard Music Awards last night, taking home seven new trophies.
Imagine Dragons picked up five awards, while Lorde won two... including for Top New Artist, Carrie Underwood won the fan-voted Milestone Award, and Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, and Pharrell also won. The most buzzed-about event was the 'appearance' of Michael Jackson via a hologram-like display, doing a new song.   Jennifer Lopez was part of the opening and closing numbers, and wrapped up the show by accepting the honorary Icon Award

PEYTON MANNING ARRESTED FOR COCAINE?
Did you hear? Peyton Manning was pulled over on Elm Hill Pike and arrested for cocaine possession? NOT the famous ballplaying Peyton.. but an 18 year-old woman named Peyton Manning... who was driving a car full of dope.. as well as her passenger who admitted she sells drugs for a living. They were pulled over for a traffic violation up near Briley Parkway ....  and cops got permission to search the car after they smelled marijuana when Manning rolled down the widow.

THIRD ANNUAL HEPATITIS TESTING DAY TODAY
Today is Hapatitis Testing Day. Healthcare providers are hoping people will get tested, and get treated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates there are millions of people who have Hepatitis and don't know it, and WON'T know it, till they have liver failure or some other serious illness develops.

"DANCING WITH THE STARS" TWO-NIGHT FINALE STARTS TONIGHT
"Dancing With The Stars" is wrapping up. Four couples head into the two-night season finale that starts tonight. The Voice and American Idol both wrap up this week, and The Bachelorette starts tonight. This is the one...with one of the bachelors who died, recently.... it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

FEEL GOOD STORY: STRANGER COMES TO RESCUE OF KIDS AFTER MOM'S DEATH
Here's your feel good, feel a little sad, then feel good again, story for the day. A stranger came to the rescue for three young people, struggling to pay for their mother's funeral. 25 year-old Karries Finney, and her 15 and 16 year old brother and sister, lost their mom to cancer just before mother's day, and couldn't come up with the cash for a funeral. So their aunt said, you gotta find a way to let it go... and suggested they write notes and attach them to balloons. Well, a stranger found those balloons, 35 miles away, and called the kids and said, my co workers and I have raised 10 thousand dollars, will that pay for your mom's funeral? Karries says she just started crying. Especially since this all went down, on Mother's Day weekend. She now says she has two moms, one in heaven and the other who she calls Mrs. Yvette.

WILL CALIFORNIA CHROME GET TO COMPETE IN THIRD RACE OF TRIPLE CROWN?

"GODZILLA" SCORES MONSTROUS 93-MILLION DOLLAR WEEKEND
And there were a lot of people watching "Godzilla" at the movies this weekend. Neighbors, with Seth Rogen/Zac Efron was in a distant second place.

ALASKAN MAN TREATS SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND WITH NEOSPORIN 
A man in Alaska is finally getting proper medical treatment after accidentally shooting himself in the head and then trying to treat the wound with Neosporin.  According to KTUU-TV, police say the unnamed man was playing around with his rifle when he gave himself the "serious but not life-threating" injury.  He applied some of the antibiotic ointment soon afterward, but waited five days to head over to the hospital.  Police say it's not clear whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident.

CALIF WILDFIRE NEARLY CONTAINED
The wildfires are still burning in California, but they've moved on past San Marcos, so people who had to evacuate their homes, there, are being allowed to go back home. Fire officials said Sunday that the Cocos Fire is nearly 90-percent contained.

DISNEYLAND RAISES PRICES
The happiest place on earth is more expensive this morning. JUST IN TIME for summer vacation, Disneyland quietly raised its ticket prices and suspended new sales of one of its popular annual passes Sunday.  A single day ticket to either Disneyland park or Disney California Adventure is up from 92-dollars to 96 dollars a day for guests ten and older.
