DATA CENTER FOR HEALTHCARE WEBSITE IS DOWN
A data center for the www.Healthcare.gov website is down. The data center, run by Verizon's Terremark,  developed problems yesterday, stopping online enrollment for all 50 states. No word on how long it'll take to fix the problem.

And Boston and St. Louis are tied at two games each, in the best-of-seven World Series. 

BUD ADAMS FUNERAL TODAY
Titans owner Bud Adams' funeral is today in Houston, Texas.  He passed away last week, at 90. Ownership of the team is expected to be passed down to Adams' surviving family members.

RIDE OPERATOR CHARGED AFTER NC FAIR ACCIDENT
The man who was operating a ride at the North Carolina State Fair has been charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, in connection with the injuries of five people last week. The fair said in a news release that 46-year-old Timothy Tutterrow, of Quitman, Ga., had been arrested. Witnesses say the ride had stopped and people were getting off when it started moving again. The Vortex ride was inspected, and inspectors say it had been tampered with and critical safety devices were "compromised." Three people are still in the hospital.
 
LOU REED DIES

Celebrities, young and old, are remembering singer Lou Reed today.  Neil Patrick Harris Tweeted, "Rest in Peace, Lou Reed. Your musical influence will never be forgotten." Miley Cyrus tweeted, "Noooo... Not Lou Reid."  Billy Idol posted that without Reed there would have been no punk rock, and actor Samuel L. Jackson said Reed's songs are the music of his generation, but that it's "still relevant!"  Lou Reed died Sunday at the age of 71.

Have you heard about date rape drugs? Roofies. Liquid Ecstasy, Special K. Things some guy slips into some girl's drink so he can assault her. But officials say date rape DRUGS are actually very rare. The most common date rape drug is alcohol. And one reason there are so many date rapes is our attitude about it. When a woman is so drunk she's not ABLE to say no, it is NOT okay to have sex with her, and that's just become part of our culture to let it happen. Sex crimes officials say we all need to start looking out for each other, and if we see someone who's intoxicated and vulnerable, we need to step up and intervene. 

DRIVER LEAVES SCENE AFTER HITTING POLICE CRUISER
Metro police are looking for a hit and run driver. This person slammed into a metro police officer's car yesterday morning around 3. Ran a red light on Shelby Avenue North near Interstate Drive, then just drove away. The officer was not injured

LOCAL LEGENDS INDUCTED INTO HALL OF FAME
Kenny Rogers, Bobby Bare and the late "Cowboy" Jack Clement are now members of the Country Music Hall of Fame.  They were inducted yesterday in Nashville, and honored by some of music's biggest stars, including Garth Brooks and Kris Kristofferson.

REESE'S TOPS LIST OF FAVORITE HALLOWEEN CANDY
What candy should you be buying if you want to be a hit this Thursday night with the kids? Reese's Peanut Butter Cups have replaced Candy Corn as America's favorite Halloween treat. But, if you want leftovers after the Trick or Treaters hit Halloween night, try leaving out a bowl of raisins. They've been voted kids' least favorite thing to get on Halloween night. The faves? Rees's Peanut Butter Cups, followed by M & Ms, Snickers and Hershey Bars.

JULIANNE HOUGH APOLOGIZES FOR "ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK" CHOICE
Actress Julianne Hough got some fires lit this weekend. She tweeted photos of herself dressed like Susan "Crazy Eyes" Warren, a character from the Netflix series "Orange is the new Black." Trouble with that is, "Crazy Eyes" is African American, so Hough wore dark makeup on her face and neck, and some people were outraged, calling it "blackface," which is demeaning and derogatory.  Hough quickly pulled the pictures and apologized. CONRAD MURRAY OUT OF JAIL
Doctor Conrad Murray has been released from a Los Angeles jail. He got out early for good behavior, after serving only half of his four-year sentence for administering a deadly dose of propofol to Michael Jackson.  

FLEETWOOD MAC CO-FOUNDER DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER
Fleetwood Mac co-founder John McVie has been diagnosed with cancer, and the group has canceled coming shows on its world tour. 

ACTRESS/ VOICE ACTOR MARCIA WALLACE DIES: STAR OF NEWHART AND SIMPSONS
Marcia Wallace, known to older TV viewers as the secretary on the Bob Newhart Show and to younger ones, as the voice of Edna Krabappel on "The Simpsons" passed away on Friday, at the age of 70. The Simpsons say they'll deal with her death on the show by having her character retire.

After six years of marriage and a son, Orlando Bloom and his wife-slash-model Miranda Kerr are divorcing.

A new study says that, because 20-somethings today are acquiring more debt, they'll retire 12 years later than their parents do. Conan O'Brien joked that when 20-somethings heard that, they said, "retire from what?"

MT. JULIET FIRE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE TODAY
Mt. Juliet now has its own fire department and they're holding an open house today from 1 to 3 so you can get to know them. The new Mt. Juliet fire department officially went into service October 1st.

JAMES TAYLOR HAS SHAKY START TO NATIONAL ANTHEM
There was a shaky moment for James Taylor at game 2 of the World Series, when he came out to sing the national anthem and instead of "Oh, say can you see..." He started with "Oh, beautiful..." but quickly got back on track.

ELLIS ISLAND REOPENS TODAY
Ellis Island is due to reopen today for the first time since Hurricane Sandy. The severe storm had flooded boilers and electrical systems, and Ellis Island had been without power for months.

Brett Favre is not going to come back again, especially since he's been experiencing memory loss episodes after 20 years in the NFL.

EDWARD NORTON HOSTS SNL WITH TIPS FROM ALEC BALDWIN, MILEY CYRUS
Edward Norton made his "Saturday Night Live" debut this weekend, 13 years after first being asked by Lorne Michaels, as he mentioned in his opening monologue.  He didn't get through much of it however, without an interruption Alec Baldwin, who walked him through his "SNL warm up for dramatic actors."  Alec also brought out another former host for reinforcements: Miley Cyrus. After Miley finished announcing her 2014 tour, Alec also threw in a quick plug for his own upcoming MSNBC show.  The singer then told Norton her three rules for hosting are to have fun, keep your energy up and lastly to "stick your tongue out like this."
Next weekend's "SNL" will be hosted by Kerry Washington, with musical guest Eminem.
