FLORIDA JAIL EXPLOSION
At least two inmates are dead and as many as 150 other inmates and corrections officers are hurt... after a suspected gas explosion at a Pensacola, Florida jail overnight.

NEW JERSEY STUDENTS ARRESTED
Dozens of New Jersey high school kids have just started their criminal careers, and are in custody this morning. They're accused of breaking into Teaneck High School and trashing it overnight... urinating on the floors, smashing water balloons and turning over desks. 60 of the students are in jail.

LOCAL: MAYOR DEAN GIVES STATE OF METRO
Mayor Karl Dean gave his State of Metro address yesterday and is calling for new funding for preschool, transit and care for the elderly, and domestic violence prevention.  The Mayor also called for the Metro Council to extend benefits to domestic partners of city employees.

TARGET SWITCHING TO MORE SECURE TECHNOLOGY FOR CARD USERS
Now that millions of Target customers had the poo scared out of them over the security breach, Target says it's changing to more secure technology starting next year. They'll use new cards that use chip and PIN rather than magnetic strips, making them harder for thieves to duplicate.

HANDS-FREE CELL PHONES NO SAFER THAN HAND-HELD WHILE DRIVING 
Before you tell your kid it's only okay to talk on hands free phones in the car... you need to know that it is NOT any safer than actually  holding the phone and talkig, Any type of cell phone use creates a distraction to drivers. The survey shows that 90-percent of all car crashes are caused by driver error, and in 26-percent cell phone use plays a role. Even hands-free.
         ( Any conversation while behind the wheel -- even with someone in the vehicle -- cuts a motorist's ability to process moving images by 33-percent.  But an actual passenger is also another set of eyes on the road.  That person will also know when traffic conditions require the chatter to end -- benefits that don't come with hand-held or hands-free cell phone conversations.)

NASHVILLE LIQUOR STORE ACCUSED OF SELLING STOLEN GOODS
Cops cleaned out a liquor store in North Nashville. Police confiscated everything at Northwest Liquors on Wednesday after an undercover investigation found workers there were buying and selling stolen items, including gift cards, laundry detergent and other items. They paid cops with cash and cocaine for what they thought were stolen gift cards. Not only was everything confiscated, but the owner will probably be charged, as well as an employee. 

OBAMA HONORS TEACHERS TODAY
President Obama will honor teachers today. The President will host the 2014 National Teacher of the Year in a White House ceremony.  Finalists in the annual competition will also attend the ceremony. 

CRACK SMOKING MAYOR GOES TO REHAB
After yet another video of Toronto mayor Rob Ford high and ranting obscenities in a bar... the mayor, infamous for smoking crack cocaine, says he's taking a break from his re-election campaign and going to rehab. He's tried it before, but was unsuccessful.

NEW INITIATIVE TO FIGHT SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES
New statistics show one in FIVE women will be sexually assaulted while at college. One in FIVE. There's a new initiative out of the White House that calls on colleges to become more transparent in reporting sexual assaults, and launches a new website "NotAlone.gov" that'll post school policies on handling sexual assaults and helping victims.Investigation

4-YEAR-OLD MURFREESBORO GIRL HIT BY PICKUP
A four-year-old Murfreesboro girl is recovering this morning at the Monroe Carrell Childrens Hospital at Vanderbilt, after she was hit by a pickup last night around 7...as she tried to cross the street, and received serious injuries. It's not clear yet whether the 30-year-old driver will be charged with anything. 

STUDY: DIABETICS' BRAINS MAY SHRINK AS THEY AGE
If you have diabetes and you sometimes wonder what's happening to your brain, there actually may be something going on there.
 A new study says diabetics' brains shrink as they get older. Researchers with the University of Pennsylvania said it could be both blood-vessel damage and brain-cell death... because of too high or too low blood sugar. Nearly 26-million people in the U.S. have diabetes.

RIVERFRONT ARTISTS ANNOUNCED FOR CMA FEST
The lineup has been announced for this summers CMA Music Festival riverfront shows... artists include Billy Ray Cyrus, Lonestar, Craig Morgan, Pam Tillis, Kellie Pickler, Uncle Kracker, Clay Walker, Darryl Worley and Wynonna. The Riverfront Park concerts are at 10 each morning during the CMA Music Festival, June 5th through 8th, and they're free. The night-time concerts at LP Field are sold out.

BIG BANG THEORY CELEBRATES STAR WARS DAY ON TONIGHT’S SHOW
May 4th is called Star wars Day... as in May the Fourth Be with you.
The Big Bang Theory celebrates all things Star Wars on tonight's show.
