METRO HIRES NEW DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COORDINATOR
A new report shows that every type of crime is decreasing in Davidson County except for domestic violence. In fact, almost half of all the crimes reported in Davidson County in 2012 involved domestic violence. More than 60 percent of them were dismissed, retired or simply not prosecuted. Metro Mayor Karl Dean says that's not acceptable, and he's making some changes. He's created a new position of "domestic violence coordinator," who will make sure everyone in the criminal justice process is interacting and there are no gaps in the system. One of the changes will include Metro police officers conducting welfare checks on people under orders of protection, looking for repeat violators, and making sure the victims are safe.
NEW HEALTHCARE RATES LOWER IN TENNESSEE THAN OTHER STATES
This may make you feel a LITTLE better about shelling out that cash for health care: premiums in Tennessee under the programs that launch next week, are among the lowest in the country. As low as 181 dollars a month, and on average, about 245. The National average is 328. Here's a link to start your research about it. http://www.yourhealthcaresimplified.org/?gclid=COjK4KL66LkCFaXm7Aody2gAlw

And Printer's Alley is being renovated. Non-profit group "The District" has started with a new Printer's Alley sign replicated from the one that hung next Fiddle & Steel Guitar Bar for years. They have more renovations in the works. (The old sign may be auctioned off later on.)
WOMAN SUING HOSPITAL AFTER PRANK PHOTO TAKEN WHILE UNCONSCIOUS
Of all the people in the WORLD you should be able to trust, it's your doctor. Instead, a 36 year old woman is suing a Los Angeles hospital after the anesthesiologist drew a mustache and fake tears on her face while she was unconscious, took photos, and they ended up on Facebook. The anesthesiologist says Veronica Valdez was a hospital administrator there for years, so he knew her and thought she'd find it funny. She did not.
OFF-DUTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTY ARRESTS ALLEGED CHILD PREDATOR AT MOVIE THEATER
At least ONE child predator was stopped in his tracks when an off-duty Maury County sheriff's deputy SAW the guy target and proposition a minor at a movie theater in Columbia, Tennessee. The deputy says he watched as 55-year-old Edward Gill approached the kid, targeted him all night, then inappropriately touched him. Gill denies it, but has a record of being arrested for trying to get teenaged boys to come to his house for sex. Gill faces one count of solicitation of a minor and assault.
ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO CHILD ENDANGERMENT CHARGES
This woman has just made every mistake you've ever made in parenting, look not so bad. Cops pulled over 24 year old Temptress Peebles just after midnight, recently because her license plate wasn't visible. Turns out she had her young child in the car. At midnight. Unrestrained. Next to a big stash of pot. And, Peebles was driving on a revoked license. She was arrested. And, her bond was set a little higher since cops say she's a repeat offender and has a history of failing to show up for court.
BILL PASSES TO REQUIRE WELFARE RECIPIENTS TO DO VOLUNTEER WORK
What do you think about this? A bill has passed in the Michigan Senate that would require those receiving public assistance to do some “volunteer” work. Another bill, which passed the House Commerce Committee, requires drug testing, revoking benefits for welfare, and those who refuse to test or test positive, don't get the taxpayer money. If this kind of legislation gets traction, we could see it everywhere.
BUSH SERVES AS WITNESS AT SAME SEX MARRIAGE
Former President George H.W. Bush was an official witness at the same-sex wedding of two longtime friends this weekend in Kennebunkport, Maine, where the Bushes have a compound. In the couple's facebook photo, Bush is seated in a wheelchair, a stack of papers on his lap, a pen in his left hand, and one bright red sock and one bright blue one visible below the cuffs of his slacks. Gay marriage has been legal in Maine since December.
BRIDE DOESN'T LET BROKEN ARM STOP WEDDING CEREMONY
A bride in Michigan was determined that her wedding was going through as planned, and didn't even let it stop her when she fell down a flight of stairs just before the ceremony and broke her arm. Instead, she had someone pull up a chair, and she sat as she and her groom exchanged vows. Then she went to the hospital. Janet says the worst part wasn't the broken arm, it was having to miss her wedding reception!

MILEY'S ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE INTERVIEW:
Miley Cyrus' Rolling Stone Magazine interview has some pretty funny stuff in it. First, she's naked on the cover. (Yawn.) But she says, surprisingly, there is something that can embarrass her. It's HER MOTHER. When Miley was getting into the Teddy Bear costume at the VMA award show, her mom asked her, "Sweet girl, do you need to potty first?" Miley said, "I'm like, 'Mom! Kanye is standing right here!'"
KELLY CLARKSON IN TONIGHT'S (Thurs) 'CRAZY ONES' PREMIERE
And Kelly Clarkson says she's not an actress, so the first time she was offered a role in tonight's premiere of the Robin Williams comedy, "The Crazy Ones," she turned it down. But, she says, producers convinced her that she'd get to play herself, so she agreed to do it. Robin Williams has the role of advertising executive Simon Roberts, and in tonight's episode, he gets Kelly to appear and sing in his commercial. "The Crazy Ones" launches on CBS Thursday at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.
DIVERS PHOTOGRAPH 'COOKIE MONSTER' OF THE SEA
And while you're online, you have GOT to check out the sea sponge that some divers just ran across and photographed, that look just like the famous Sesame Street character, Cookie Monster.
