TDOT will begin a major construction project that’s going to SHUT DOWN I-24 in Nashville. The project will replace two aging bridges over Main Street and over Woodland Street near LP Field. The first closure will take place NEXT Friday, April 20 through Monday, April 23.

A new study suggests the new healthcare reform law won't do much to control costs.  The study was conducted by a Republican member of the board which oversees Medicare financing.  It says the healthcare initiative will add more than 340-billion dollars to the budget deficit over the next decade.

A new study suggests a link between a common brain tumor and certain kinds of dental X-rays.  The tumor is nearly always benign, but can still be debilitating.  The study determined at a general level that people with meningioma were more than twice as likely as people without the brain tumor to have had a "bitewing X-ray" at some point in their life.  

Randy Travis is being sued by his ex-wife, who is also the country music star's former manager.  The "Nashville Business Journal" says Elizabeth Travis has filed a breach of contract lawsuit.  She accuses the singer of ending their management agreement without notifying her in writing, and of "intentionally" keeping her from effectively doing her job.

Those fish oil supplements so many of us swallow each day aren't doing much to keep their hearts healthy. That’s what a new study says. Researchers found the supplements did nothing to lower the risk of another heart attack, stroke or congestive heart failure in people with heart disease. 

Melissa Gilbert is recovering from a bump to the head during last night's "Dancing With the Stars."  She suffered a mild concussion and whiplash after striking her head against the dance floor during her performance. Gilbert was rushed to the hospital following the incident after she reported feeling dizzy.

 

 

Police are searching for a suspect Tuesday morning following an armed robbery at a south Nashville gas station. News 2 says it was at the 300 block of Harding Place at the intersection of Antioch Pike after reports of an armed robbery at a Daily's convenience store just before 5 a.m.

The FCC is teaming up with police and the cellphone industry to battle smartphone thefts.  A central database is being created to track stolen phones and stop them from being used again.  Many smartphone owners use the devices for their finances and the phones often contain sensitive personal information.

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is cancelling a couple of campaign events in Pennsylvania this morning so he can spend more time with his daughter.  Three-year-old Bella was released from the hospital last night.  The little girl suffers from a chromosomal condition that interferes with a child's development. 

Cyndi Lauper is going to write an AUTObiography. In "Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir" the singer covers her childhood, her rise to fame, and the challenges she faced once she made it.  Lauper says she doesn't sugar-coat anything, and says she "never wanted this book to be anything but my truth."
