RARE SIGHT OF VENUS TUES NIGHT
A heavenly event that won't happen again in your lifetime happens tonight (Tues), when Venus crosses the sun and is visible to us. The planet will appear as a black dot, like a mole on the sun's cheek, near sunset. You're not supposed to look at the sun with the naked eye, but the Adventure Science Center is hosting a free viewing with telescopes and special gear that lets you see it safely, you can read how to make a pinhole viewer, or you can watch it online.

MOST DANGEROUS CARS IN US?
Are you driving one of the most dangerous cars in the country? The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has done it's annual crash tests, and claims the most dangerous cars include the Dodge Ram 1500, the Chevy Colorado Crew Cab, Mazda's CX-7 and CX9, the Nissan Pathfinder and Jeep Wrangler. BBQ CATCHES SUNSCREEN ON FIRE
And here's something to warn the grillmaster in your life about: a man near Boston who had just sprayed Banana Boat sunscreen on his chest and back walked over to the grill, picked up his BBQ utensils and the sunscreen caught fire. The flames traveled to his chest, ears and back -- everywhere he had sprayed the sunscreen. Now companies are faced with whether they should put detailed warning labels on sunscreen.
ROAD CLOSURES DURING CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL
If you've survived the CMA Music Festival Traffic before... you know the drill: hundreds of artists and thousands of fans will be in town this week, trying to figure out Nashville street signs, and looking for places to park those rental cars. 'RALLY POINT' TO HELP VETERANS IS TODAY (TUESDAY)
If you know a Veteran, make sure they know about the big event today at Jackson State Community College. It's called a "Rally Point," it's free, and it's where more than 35 agencies and organizations have gathered to give veterans and their families information about VA claim help, Vocational training, education, employment, mental health, housing and business loans. (A similar event is scheduled for June 13 in Cookeville.)
DOLLAR GENERAL EMPLOYEE SHOT DURING ROBBERY
A Dollar General employee in Antioch is recovering after being shot in the calf during a robbery. Apparently the gunman demanded money and threatened to shoot, the clerk said something like, 'You're not gonna shoot me, " but the robber did. Police are still looking for the suspect.
DEMOCRATS TO BRING PAYCHECK FAIRNESS ACT TO SENATE FLOOR
Democrats are expected to bring the Paycheck Fairness Act to the Senate floor today. it's supposed to help bridge the wage gap between men and women, and is strongly supported by the White House. Women still earn, on average, 77 cents to every dollar earned by men. Republicans, however, say it would unfairly burden businesses, and without their votes it won't pass.
DISNEY CUTS JUNK FOOD ADS
Disney is pulling the plug on junk food advertisements aimed at children. The company says it'll limit advertisements on its TV channels, radio station and website to include only commercials for healthier foods. Disney owns and operates ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN, A+E , and ABC Family.
OCTOMOM TAKES PART-TIME STRIPPING GIG
And it's kind of like a crash on the highway: you see the mess but you can't look away. The woman known as Octomom has now reportedly picked up a part-time job as a stripper in a Florida nightclub. Nadya Suleman says she's got to feed all those kids.
MAN ARRESTED IN HENDERSONVILLE POLICE OFFICER CRASH
53 year old local man Eddie McNeese has been charged with vehicular assault... for crashing into a Hendersonville Motorcycle officer on Monday. McNeese admitted he was under the influence of Lortabs... a narcotic painkiller, and he reportedly has had 12 tickets already for DUI. The officer is expected to recover.
KIDS COULD SOMEDAY GET ON FACEBOOK, WITHOUT LYING
Though Facebook bans children under 13, millions of them have profiles on the site by lying about their age. Now, the company is testing ways to let younger kids on the site, possibly by connecting the kids' accounts to their parents' accounts.
HOSPITAL TO OPEN CANCER CENTER AT COLUMBIA MALL
That Medical offices at the mall thing is working at Hundred Oaks, so the Columbia Mall is getting a new tenant. Maury Regional Medical Center is opening a new 40-thousand square foot expanded cancer center there.... in the former Goody's department store space.
BEDBUG CURE: BEING STINKING DRUNK!
You wanna prevent bedbugs? There's a treatment in the works. Researchers at the University of Nebraska find that the higher your blood alcohol content ... the less likely you are to be bitten by the critters. Now, they just need a way to simulate that nasty alcohol taste on your skin without you having to go on a binge.
METRO POLICE WARNING FOR CMA FEST
Metro police are warning you, if you're going downtown during the CMA Music Festival, to protect your personal belongings. Thieves and purse snatchers come out when crowds do. There'll be more than 100 officers downtown every night during the four-day celebration.
JAPAN 'DIET GLASSES' FOOL WEARERS INTO EATING LESS
They've come up with some interesting ways to eat less in Japan. Goggles with special cameras that make your FOOD look LARGER, but not the hand holding it. And headgear that emits the smell of chocolate, and displays a video of a cookie, as you eat a lower-calorie biscuit. 80 percent of the tets subjects say they were fooled.
"AMERICAN IDOL" WINNER DOING WELL WITH ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT
Phillip Phillips' doctors have given him the OK to hit the road with the rest of his "American Idol" finalists next month. The American Idol Live tour starts July 6th, and this season's champ will reportedly be there for the entire 45-stop trek despite choosing not to undergo surgery for the problematic kidney that ailed him throughout his entire stint on the Fox show. Reports suggested the Georgia-native was scheduled to go under the knife the week after the "Idol" finale, but was supposedly forced to cancel the procedure because of a sinus infection. Now, a source close to Phillips tells E! News surgery is still an option, but the singer is "doing well" with an alternative treatment.
LOCAL: MEDICAL ISSUE MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO DEADLY I-24 CRASH
Yesterday's traffic accident on Interstate 24 that left one person dead may have been caused by a medical issue. Fifty-eight-year-old Joe Darnell was killed when he crashed into a rock wall near Old Hickory Boulevard on the city's north side. Police say there was no evidence of alcohol involvement or excessive speed at the scene.
DISNEY WORLD PRICE HIKE
Disney World has announced its latest price hike, increasing a single-day ticket to $89.
Effective Sunday, it costs $89 plus tax for a one-day, one-park ticket. The new total marks a $4 and 4.7 percent increase.
The announcement from the entertainment giant came about a week after rival theme park Universal Orlando raised its ticket price to $88.
