DEMOCRATS EXPECTED TO PASS BILL RAISING NATION'S DEBT LIMIT
Democrats in the Senate are expected to pass a bill raising the nation's debt limit this week. That doesn't mean it'll get any farther than that. President Obama has asked lawmakers to keep the bill free of other policy amendments and to put off the next debt ceiling debate until after midterm elections next year.
SOCIAL SECURITY SAYS CAN'T GUARANTEE FULL BENEFIT PAYMENTS
Meanwhile, the Social Security Administration is warning recipients it can't guarantee full payments if the debt ceiling isn't raised.
OBAMA URGES CLEAN FUNDING EXTENSION
President Obama is again urging Congress to come up with a "clean" funding extension to end the partial government shutdown now in its second week. Obama also is calling on Congress to raise the federal debt ceiling and avoid a default.
AMBER ALERT WEBSITE SHUTS DOWN, GOES BACK UP
Okay, just so you know, the Amber Alert system is NOT shut down. What DID happen was the Amber Alert website was taken offline, because there was no one left working to maintain it. But, after the public saw it down and went NUTS about it, someone in the Justice Department, which runs the site, was taken off of furlough to run the Amber Alert site. The program, itself, has been running all along.
RUTHERFORD COUNTY JOB FAIR
There's a job fair in Rutherford County today, with more than 29 local businesses on site, and taking applications. Potential employers include Lowe's Bridgestone, Bojangle's Calsonic Kansei (that's the parts supplier for NIssan), and more. The job fair is 10 to 2 at Blackman High School.
NASHVILLE'S 2ND HARVEST FOOD BANK NEEDS BABY FORMULA
Second Harvest Food Bank of Nashville has asked us to ask you for donations of baby formula. The agency, which provides emergency food to local families, says its shelves have been emptied by people worried about the effect the government shutdown might have on assistance programs like WIC.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH; DONATE YOUR OLD CELLPHONES TO HELP
If you have an old cellphone or two, or three, that you're not using, there are some people trying to get out of really bad situations who could really use them. The YWCA says if you'll donate your old cell phone to them, they can sell it, and use the money to fund their programs to help Domestic violence victims. The Tennessee Department of Correction just donated nearly 4,000 cellphones to the program, that they'd confiscated from state prisoners. 615-269-9922. GREEN HILLS' TALLEST BUILDING IN THE PLANNING STAGE
The land deal is done for what's planned to be the tallest building in Green Hills. The project, on 2-and-a-half acres at Hillsboro and Richard Jones, would include a 22-story residential tower, a restaurant, retail and office space. Construction starts next year and the build should be finished by 2016.

Harrison Enkema, that 18-year-old Franklin man whose car went airborne in Williamson County and ended up trapped in a tree, overhanging the Harpeth River will face charges of DUI and reckless driving. Enkema is in the hospital right now.

OKLAHOMA WILDLIFE PARK EMPLOYEE ATTACKED BY TIGER SAYS IT WAS HER FAULT
An Oklahoma wildlife park employee who was attacked by a tiger over the weekend says the incident was her fault. Kelli Saffery says she broke protocol Saturday by sticking her hand into the tiger's cage. He bit her hand and pulled, causing a severe arm injury.

The office of Rep. Marsha Blackburn in Clarksville had to be evacuated yesterday after a suspicious-looking envelope was discovered. A HAZMAT team was called in to remove it. No word yet on what was in it, and no injuries.

FOURTH BIKER ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH SUV DRIVER ATTACK
Another biker is under arrest in connection with the attack on the driver of an SUV in New York City last week. Craig Wright of Brooklyn faces gang assault, assault and unlawful imprisonment charges. Wright is the fourth biker to be charged in the incident.
