WEATHER STUFF FOR NASHVILLE AREA: BIG CHANGE WITHIN 48 HOURS
Let's start with the weather stuff, because here in Tennessee it CHANGES so quickly, we want to make sure you are ready for what's headed our way in just 48 hours! Although it's warm here, now, by FRIDAY our daytime high will be only in the 30s, the overnight low at freezing, and a 100 percent chance of some sort of precipitation. That means Friday could be a cold, slow ride in and back from work. In fact, in some parts of the country they're already getting that wintry stuff: Wyoming, Idaho and other places, have gotten as much as 30 inches of snow already.

Is your tree up yet? Christmas is THREE WEEKS FROM TODAY! Our nation's Capital is getting into the swing of the season. The Capitol Christmas Tree was lit last night. The National Christmas Tree, across the street from the White House, will be lit later this week, and the big ROCKEFELLER TREE LIGHTING in New York is tonight. It’ll air on NBC, complete with Christmas carols sung by Mary J. Blige, the Goo Goo Dolls, Jewel, Leona Lewis, Lauren Alaina and The Rockettes.
TRAIN ENGINEER MAY HAVE BEEN SLEEPING WHEN TRAIN CRASHED
The National Transportation Safety Board says the engineer who drove a train off the tracks Sunday in the Bronx , killing four people and injuring 67 others, had apparently nodded off when he hit a 30 mile an hour curve at more than 80 miles an hour.
SCHOOL AUDIT FINDS $48 MILLION IN EQUIPMENT MISSING
An outside audit ordered by the Shelby County Schools board shows that $48.4 million in school equipment is missing or unaccounted for in the district. An auditor found more than 54 thousand pieces of equipment missing, including laptop computers, hard drives, tools and driver training cars!
BUDDHA THE CAT GETS FOSTER HOME
Buddha, a kitty who weighed more than 30 pounds when he was turned in to Metro animal control is still making progress toward his goal weight of 20 pounds, and now he’s made another step forward: he has a foster home, for now. He’ll stay there till he loses enough weight and is healthy enough to be adopted permanently. He had to stop the underwater treadmill you may have seen him using, because vets determined Buddha has a heart condition.
SALVATION ARMY BELLRINGERS NEEDED!
Salvation Army's biggest fundraiser of the year is getting underway and they need some help. This is their Red Kettle season, where they put bell ringers outside stores across town, and they have to PAY people to ring those bells, unless they get enough volunteers to fill those slots. If you want to get some friends or a church group or school together and do some bell ringing, you can call the Salvation Army at 242-0411. MEGA MILLIONS UP TO 291 MILLION DOLLARS
No one has won the Mega Millions jackpot so it continues to grow. No one walked away with the grand prize Tuesday night, the 18th consecutive drawing without a winner. That means the next drawing, on Friday night, will be worth at least 291-million dollars.
U.T. FRATERNITY SHUT DOWN FOR HAZING
The University of Tennessee's Police Department says it's had a lot of trouble at the school in the past few weeks, including hazing, underage drinking, damage to property, indecent exposure and more, and it's led to a U.T. fraternity being shut down. Pi Kappa Phi's national office revoked the charter for the Knoxville chapter of the fraternity and members will have to move out as soon as finals are over. Some could face criminal charges.
WHEEL OF FORTUNE APOLOGIZES FOR FAST AND FURIOUS PUZZLE
Producers for "Wheel Of Fortune" say they feel terrible about a puzzle this week, and are apologizing after a show aired with a puzzle answer that read, "The Fast and The Furious" just days after one of the lead actors, Paul Walker, was killed in a fiery car crash. During the show a crawl ran on the screen saying the show was taped a few weeks ago, and afterwards host Pat Sajack tweeted, "feel terrible about the timing of 'Fast & Furious' puzzle."
TOP SELLER AT WALMART ON BLACK FRIDAY?
What was the real top seller at Walmart on Black Friday? 2 million televisions were snapped up, but that's not it. Computer tablets? No. The top seller at Walmart on Black Friday was towels. They sold 2.8 million towels. The store was selling bath towels or a six-pack of washcloths for $1.74. But even towels inspired scuffles. NBC showed a video of a man leaving the towel section while holding his stomach and being helped along by another man.
ATTORNEY FOR VANDY PLAYER ARRESTED
An attorney representing one of the former Vanderbilt football players accused of rape is facing harassment charges, himself. Fletcher Long was arrested Tuesday after an ex-employee said he was stalking her. Long, who represents Brandon Vandenburg, says the allegations are bogus and the woman is disgruntled.
