The owners of Hickory Hollow Mall in Antioch have taken the first step in reviving the long-dead mall. They unveiled it's new name yesterday, and that is: Global Mall at The Crossings. There are currently only four stores open in the once-busy mall. They hope to announce a batch of new stores in March. The grand opening is set for April.

How hot was it? 2012 was the warmest year on record in the lower 48 states according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. That was one degree hotter than the previous record-holder: 1998. About a third of the country endured 10 or more days where the temperatures were higher than 100°F during the summer.

Rutherford Country is now considering adding an armed police officer in every elementary school. The county's sheriff says the cost of adding 11 school resource officers would cost 1.2 million. The country already has 44 of the officers in high school and middle schools. On Monday, the Williamson County budget Commission recommended spending $2.5 million to fund 32 of the SROs that would go in each elementary school.

The TBI and Cheatham County Sheriff's Office arrested four people Monday in an alleged dog-fighting operation in Ashland City. The Oscar nominations are out tomorrow but today, the Razzie Award nominees, for the worst achievements in cinema! The leading contender for horribleness, with nominations in every catagory, is The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II.  Nominees for outstanding bad actor include some big names: Nicolas Cage, Eddie Murphy, Robert Pattinson, Tyler Perry, and Razzy-favorite Adam Sandler.
