ARMY SUICIDES NOT JUST TIED TO COMBAT DUTY
A new study reveals that even U.S. Army soldiers who never served in combat have taken their own lives in recent years. The National Institute of Mental Health analyzed records for nearly a-million Army soldiers to better understand the suicide trend in America's military. Researchers think the Army's fast pace since the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq began has put a strain on soldiers that contributed to the suicide rate. While the suicide rate among veterans of the two wars more than doubled from 2004 to 2009, it nearly tripled among those who never deployed.
