DEBT LIMIT AND SHUTDOWN RESOLUTION SAID TO BE NEAR
The Senate's two top leaders are said to be very close to an agreement to raise the debt limit and end the government shutdown. Aides say Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell could put the deal up for a vote today.
LOCAL: FEE APPROVED FOR DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE PURCHASES
Prices are going up to shop downtown. Metro Council has approved a POINT 25% fee -- that's a penny added to every 4 dollar tab -- for all food, beer and goods, bought in downtown Nashville. The fee will go into effect in January, and the money it raises is supposed to be spent to attract new convention business to the Music City Center.
MORE THAN HALF OF U.S. FAST FOOD WORKERS ON PUBLIC AID
More than half of American fast food workers receive some type of public assistance. Fast food workers earn on average 8.69 an hour, and they often work less than 40 hours a week. That qualifies them for food stamps, Medicaid and tax credits. A new report from economists says that public aid ends up costing taxpayers about seven-billion dollars a year.

FELONY COUNTS FOR 2 IN SUICIDE OF BULLIED GIRL
A 14 year old girl and a 12 year old girl have been arrested in Florida... and charged with FELONIES... after they repeatedly bullied a seventh grade girl, face-to-face and online and she finally jumped to her death. The sheriff of Polk County says it's an offensive situation that parents let get out of hand, until the girl just gave up... and it's not acceptable. This is one you might want to read with your kids and talk about.

The former Vanderbilt University football players accused of rape will be in court today. Brandon Vandenburg, Cory Batey, Brandon Banks and Jaborian McKenzie have each pleaded not guilty and are free on bond.

COOL SPRINGS NOSHVILLE CLOSES
The Cool Springs Noshville has closed down. Cool Springs diners wouldn’t bite for a New York-style deli... so after After nearly six years, the Noshville deli in Cool Springs served its last bagels, lox and schmears of cream cheese on Sunday.
Despite early buzz when it opened in January 2008 and strong sales at the other Noshville locations, the Cool Springs eatery faced financial struggles that couldn’t be overcome, said Tom Loventhal, co-owner of the Cool Springs Noshville and the managing general partner of all the Noshville locations.
SALVATION ARMY STILL NEEDS VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH ANGEL TREE SIGNUP
The Salvation Army says it still needs come help getting people signed up for the Angel Tree program which helps families, kids and elderly people at Christmas. Volunteers signed up more than 200 applicants a day last year and this year is expected to be just as busy. Forbes says Ashton Kutcher is the highest paid TV actor. The Two and a Half men star earned 24-million dollars last year. His "Two and a Half Men" co-star Jon Cryer is second on the list with estimated earnings of 21-million dollars a year. With residuals from "Everybody Loves Raymond" and his new role on "Parenthood," Ray Romano is third on the "Forbes" list with 16-million dollars a year.
